I joke that I came out of the womb a Weight Watcher.

Like many of us, I was raised in diet culture. Growing up, I had a naturally muscular frame—I was fit, but not skinny. Dance was my life in high school, and soon after I was named captain of the dance team my senior year, my naturally thin coach pulled me aside. “You’ll need to start eating salads,” she said. “I’m not taking a fat captain to state competition.”

That moment marked the beginning of a long, complicated relationship with my food and my body.

Things only intensified in college when I met my husband who was studying to be a chef. He wanted to impress his new bride and introduced me to decadent foods—cream sauces, real butter, the works! Nine months later, as I was preparing for student teaching, I was concerned about my professional wardrobe fitting. I realized I couldn’t even get my professional clothes ON. I panicked and signed up for my first “medical” diet plan. (Fun fact: Anyone can wear a lab coat.)

On this plan, I only drank chocolate shakes. I literally didn’t chew for six months. The weight fell off, yes—but so did my hair, by the handful. I was finally “skinny,” but I wasn’t healthy. Ironically, even at that point, I was still ten pounds over the highest end of my Weight Watchers goal range. Of course, the weight slowly crept back up once I started eating real food. But I was still completely obsessed with food—still locked into a cycle of deprivation and guilt.

The yo-yo was in full swing.

After having two boys, and a lifetime of dieting, I was exhausted—physically, emotionally, mentally. I had lost and regained the same 35, 50, 70, even 85 pounds, over and over. Each time, I gained back more than I’d lost.

But everything changed when I discovered the PFC3 lifestyle.

By focusing on body, mindset, and sustainable habits—without deprivation—I reclaimed my health. Very quickly, I experienced brighter skin. Cravings disappeared. I had no more joint pain. I could climb my stairs without needing a recovery period. I was waking up BEFORE my alarm clock for the first time in my life.

Food no longer controls me. I’m not tracking, logging, or obsessing. I’ve truly found food freedom. I can enjoy the foods I love and fuel my body in a balanced, life-giving way. Without having to weed through all of the noise and no longer needing to obsess, I now have the time, energy and mind space to truly live my purpose.

This transformation made me want to shout it from the rooftops. So I got certified as a health and lifestyle coach and started sharing what I’d learned with friends and others who asked about this new way of living. Watching them experience the same freedom lit a fire in me—I knew I had found my passion.
